Shikimic acid is a monomer compound extracted from star anise. The molecular formula is C7H10O5. At 20℃ water solubility of 18%, slightly soluble in ethanol, ether, almost insoluble in chloroform, benzene. It has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, and can also be used as an intermediate of antiviral and anticancer drugs.
